J1 Consulting is the vision of its senior management team who are ex-servicemen themselves.

Our Directors and consultants have track records of long military service up to senior commissioned and non-commissioned rank, and also of significant post military experience up to Board level in a variety of industries. As well as a deep feel for the Armed Forces we also therefore appreciate the commercial needs of our client businesses, whilst retaining a good Public Sector understanding from our time in the military and experience in the MOD.

J1 helps its clients to understand what rank, service and military skill sets are most appropriate to their vacancies, and then sources those people economically and quickly from over 22000 annual service leavers, as well as from those who have already held civilian roles since their military service.

J1 Consulting is built on the firm belief that ex-servicemen and women represent a pool of talent who are capable of filling roles in most civilian sectors, but one which is hard for those without direct experience and knowledge of the military to access effectively.

Directors

Managing Director - Nick Everard was commissioned into the 9th / 12th Royal Lancers in 1977, and left the Army in 1999 as a Lieutenant Colonel shortly after commanding that Regiment. He served operationally in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Bosnia. Both a graduate of and a former member of the Directing Staff at the Army Staff College, he has since held senior commercial roles as a Managing Director within the Financial Services Division of the FTSE 100 Capita Group, and as Group Operations Director of World Challenge, the market leading provider of adventurous expeditions globally to the schools market. He was a member of the Board which sold that company to the TUI Group in 2008.

Operations Director - Iain Herron joined the Army in 1987 and served for 23 years around the world. He left as a Warrant Officer Class One in the Adjutant General's Corps (Staff and Personnel Support). He has completed several operational tours including Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland and Bosnia. As Operations Director of J1 Consulting Iain oversees the assignment management process and the sourcing of high quality military personnel to fill vacancies; he is also responsible for the website.
